Coconut Jelly is originally from South Asia, and it is a popular snack since the 80’s. Kids loves it. I remember we use to have those in small packages when I was a kid, and only can have them when go out visit family, friends, or at the parks for special occasions. It was so tasty, and there are so many different kind of flavours.
Each country has its unique way to make it. There are many ways to make coconut jelly, you can make it with fruits, or red beans. Or layer up flavoured jelly to make a multi-flavour jelly. This coconut milk jelly recipe contains coconut milk, milk, condensed milk, and gelatine. It tastes slightly sweet, coconutty, and milky.
Is Coconut Milk Jelly healthy?
Coconut helps digest systems and improve gut health. Coconut water increases sperm count and motility, as we as reduce the number of abnormal sperms.
What is Gelatine?
Gelatine is a protein derived from animal skin, tendons, ligaments, or bones. It is usually comes from pigs, such as pig skin. Once the pig skins are boiled to a liquid, filter the liquid multiple times until it becomes clear. Then crystallize it into a powder format, which is called gelatine. It can also be made from cows, or other animals.
Ingredients:
Coconut Milk: 2 cup
Milk: 1 cup
Condensed Milk: 1/4 cup
Gelatine powder: 2 pkg (14g)
Prep Time: 5 Mins
Cooking Time: 5 Mins
Total Time: 10 Mins
Serving: 8
Instruction:
- Pour the coconut milk, milk, and condensed milk in a medium pot, and then mix well.
- Add gelatine powder, then milx well.
- Heat the pot in medium high heat.
- When the liquid brings to a boil, remove the pot off heat.
- Use a mesh to filer the liquids and pour the liquid in to a 9×9 class container
- once it cools down, refrigerate for minimum 3 hours.
- Cut it us, and ready to serve.
Tips for Coconut Milk Jelly:
- Mix the gelatine slowly, and it will resolve in the liquid. Be patient.
- Try to avoid boil the liquid mixture too long, gelatine does not work well in high heat.
- Spray a layer of oil on the glass container before pour the liquid in, it would be much easier to remove the jelly out of the pan.
- Use a knife to cut four edges of the jelly before take it out. Allow a little bit air goes to the bottom the the glass pan, then the jelly will slide out.
- Chill over night for the best result.
