This creamy chicken mushroom pasta recipe is simple to make, delicious, and super affordable. Dinner for 4 can be under $20. The chicken is so flavourful, and the mushroom brings the umami flavour. Combine with the pasta noodles, this mouth watery dish tastes like heaven.
What Type Pasta is Used for Creamy Chicken Mushroom Pasta?
Basically, you can use any type pasta you prefer. Personally, I prefer Penne, or any tube shaped pasta.
Can You Bake Chicken Mushroom Pasta?
Yes, you can top up your favourite cheese and bake 10 mins at 400F till cheese melted or broil for 2-3 mins till cheese bobbles. It would taste less creamy, and more cheesy.
Is Chicken Mushroom Pasta Healthy?
Yes, and no. Depends on what ingredients are in this dish. For this recipe, I would say it is a healthier version. Use milk instead of cream, and use olive oil instead of butter. Chicken provides protein, and mushroom helps lower cholesterol, blood sugar, improves gut health, and immune system.

Ingredients:
Pasta: 1 1/2 handful, or about 100g. I used rigatoni for this recipe.
Chicken: 1 chicken breast
Mushroom: 1/2 bound, about 3 cups chopped.
Onion: 1/3 cup fine chopped
2% Milk: 1 1/2 cup
Oil: 1/4 cup
Flour: 1 tbsp
Parmesan Cheese: 1/2 cup
Garlic powder: 1 tsp
Onion Powder: 1 tsp
Paprika: 1 tsp
Seasoning Salt: 1 tsp
Salt: pinch
Pepper: pinch
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 20 mins
Serving: 2
Instruction:
- Heat water in a sauce pan.
- Wash the mushroom, and slice them thin. Set aside.
- Once the water boiling, put in some salt, and place the pasta in the water, then stir a bit to avoid the pasta stick in the bottom of the pan.
- Chop 1/3 cup onion in fine pieces. Set aside.
- Cut chicken in medium chunks. Mix with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika,seasoning salt, salt and pepper.
- Heat a pan in medium high, put in oil. Then add onion, and chicken. Cook for 2-3 mins. Flip chicken chunks during the time a couple of times.
- Add mushrooms and pinch salt, then cook 3-4 mins.
- Add 1 tbsp flour, then mix well.
- Add milk, then mix well. Cook till it starting to boil.
- Add pasta, then mix well. Cook another 2-3 mins to thicken the sauce.
- Place it in a place, then add parmesan cheese on top.
Tips:
- I boil the pasta first, this way is better for time management. While the pasta is cooking, I can prepare the sauce.
- I do not put salt in the pasta water sometimes, to reduce the sodium intake.
- Milk can be replace by cream, if you prefer a creamer style.
- Olive oil can be placed by butter, if you prefer the buttery flavour.
- Add salt at the end to adjust as your preference.
- Add a bit herbs for a better flavour. I personal loves thymes and always add a bit thyme.
